How to Decorate an Old Bathroom Mirror with Lights

Mirrors are more than just functional objects in our homes; they're also decorative pieces that can enhance the ambiance of any space. If you have an old bathroom mirror that you're tired of, don't throw it out! With a little creativity, you can transform it into a beautiful and unique statement piece.

Gather the materials

* Old bathroom mirror * String lights (battery-operated or plug-in) * Wire cutters * Measuring tape or ruler * Pencil * Elmer's glue or hot glue gun * Command strips or picture hanging wire * Optional: Spray paint or decorative trim

Step 1: Remove the mirror from the wall

* Turn off the power to the bathroom. * Carefully remove the mirror from the wall. If it's securely attached, you may need to use a screwdriver or utility knife to pry it loose.

Step 2: Clean the mirror

* Use a glass cleaner and a soft cloth to clean the mirror thoroughly. This will remove any dirt or debris that could interfere with the glue.

Step 3: Measure and cut the string lights

* Measure the perimeter of the mirror and cut the string lights to that length. * If you're using battery-operated string lights, make sure the battery pack is accessible after the lights are attached to the mirror.

Step 4: Arrange the string lights

* Decide how you want to arrange the string lights on the mirror. You can create a simple border around the edge, or you can get creative with swirls or other patterns. * Use a pencil to mark the position of the lights on the mirror.

Step 5: Attach the string lights

* Apply a thin line of glue to the back of the string lights, following the pencil marks. * Press the string lights onto the mirror and hold them in place for a few minutes to allow the glue to set. * If you're using hot glue, be careful not to apply too much, as this could damage the mirror.

Step 6: Rehang the mirror

* If you're using Command strips, follow the manufacturer's instructions to attach them to the back of the mirror. * If you're using picture hanging wire, thread it through the holes on the back of the mirror and hang it from a nail or hook on the wall.

Step 7: Finishing touches

* If desired, you can spray paint the frame of the mirror to match your bathroom decor. * You can also add decorative trim to the mirror to give it a more finished look.

And there you have it! You've now transformed your old bathroom mirror into a beautiful and functional work of art. Enjoy your new statement piece!
